Creation Day 7: Day of Rest
Welcome to the final week of our CREATION series! Today we are going to be looking on the seventh day. Genesis 2:1-3 says, “So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed.
On the seventh day God had finished His work of creation, so He rested from all His work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy because it was the day when He rested from all His work of creation.” Can you imaging being able to sit back and enjoy life know that you just created the ENTIRE EARTH?! Today we are going to be talking about how God created the earth so that we can enjoy it! But first…
When we look at God’s Word, we see over and over that He tells us to enjoy life. Let’s take a look at just a few of those verses. Ecclesiastes 3:12 says, “So I concluded there is nothing better than to be happy and enjoy ourselves as long as we can.” Proverbs 17:22 says that “a happy heart is a good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing….” Let’s take a look at one more! This verse is found in Psalm 118:24. It says,
“This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Now if that isn’t clear enough instructions, I don’t know what is! Have you ever taken a vacation to somewhere really beautiful? This could be somewhere like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the mountains, or maybe somewhere in another country. I love those kinds of vacations because you can just sit back and enjoy all the amazing sights God created. If you look at what’s around you every day, you can also find the amazing things God created right next to you. This can sometimes be hard to do with how busy we get. If we take the time to slow down and rest, we are giving ourselves the time to see all those amazing creations God has made. This can bring great joy to our lives. When someone doesn’t know Jesus, it can be a lot harder for them to find joy and enjoy life. This is where our part comes in! Our joy is spread through the good news of Jesus’ love. When we share Jesus with others, we are helping them to see that everything around us was made for us, by God, to enjoy every day!
Life Application
• What is the difference between resting and being lazy?
Resting has a purpose, to get energy back. Laziness is when you should be doing
something but are choosing not to.
• Why is it important to rest sometimes?
It helps us stop and think about all the amazing things around us
• What are ways we can enjoy our lives?
Looking at what God made and the things he has done for us.
• How can we help others enjoy their lives?
Share Jesus with them help them see all God has done for them. Tell them all the amazing things God has done for you.

God took time to rest and admire His Creations. The Bible tells us to enjoy our lives and see them as a Gift
We help others enjoy life by telling them about Jesus.
