Week 5: God Gives Us Responsibility

Hi everyone, It is great to see you back in another day to know about our Amazing God…

Creation: Day 5 – Birds and Fish
In our Bibles, it says on the fifth day God created the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea. Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird—each producing offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the fifth day. Genesis 1:20-23. God created all these animals for us to take care of, that’s a lot of responsibility!

Can you believe how much money the first servant and the second servant just made?! This story is what we call a parable, this is a story with a point, told to us so that we may learn from it, isn’t Jesus so cool! In this parable, the master gives each servant of his a certain amount of money that each one is responsible for. The Bible says he gave each one an amount equal to that he believed he can trust them with. The first servant who was trusted with a lot was very responsible and made twice as much as he started off with! The second servant was also very responsible and doubled his money as well! Though the last servant was not responsible with what the master gave to him and he was not praised like the one who was obedient and responsible for what they were given. God has given us responsibilities over a lot of things in this world. We are in charge of taking care of the earth and animals. God, however, did not just want to take care of the animals but each other, we can take care of each other by simply play nice, inviting others to have fun at church, and even listening to our parents. And as we saw in the parable God rewards obedience to those who take their responsibilities to heart and remain faithful to it.

God gives us all kinds of responsibilities, even as simple as watering a plant. When we listen and are obedient to God he can reward us, like the gardener giving them fruit. The gardener gave his helpers responsibilities just like God gives us. We should keep the responsibilities God gives us, like caring for the fish of the sea and birds of the air, and all of our relationships. When we are responsible and obedient to God’s instructions he will give us blessings and more responsibilities.

Life Application

In the parable that we read, the master gave each servant some responsibilities. What are some responsibilities you have?
These can be various responsibilities that the kids do at home, at school, or even here at church. Like volunteering at church, or helping out in classes at school, or chores at home.

•What happens when we keep the responsibilities that God has given us?

If we are faithful to God and the responsibilities he has given us, he will provide us with more and better opportunities to be more responsible.

•What happens if we aren’t responsible at all?

If we don’t take our responsibilities to heart we can never accomplish anything, and we would also miss out on a lot of different opportunities that God wants us to experience.

Bible Verse

“Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.” Colossians 3:10, NLT

The Point
God created birds and fish for us to take care of. Keeping the responsibilities God has given us pleases Him and will grant us a favour. God has entrusted us to take care of the people in our lives.
